The one-day conference on August 31 would be the first interaction of Chidambaram with all the Chief Commissioners (CCs) and Directors General (DGs) of the I-T from across the country.
The I-T department and its controlling authority-- the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) -- will make a presentation to the minister about various issues concerning this direct taxes collection wing of the Finance Ministry.
Chidambaram is expected to address a host of issues with regard to revenue collection, combat measures taken againt the menace of black money, taxpayer friendly steps, better delivery of I-T department services and subjects related to cadre and personnel management of the department.
"The Finance Minister will address the I-T officials in the backdrop of his first statement which he delivered after assuming the charge at the ministry. The map for economic bolstering would be discussed during the one-day meet," a top Finance Ministry official said.
The I-T department and the CBDT have already given a brief presentation to Chidambaram regarding various important issues related to the department's functioning, the official said.
The department has also issued orders to all its CCs and DGs to update atest information about their respective tax ranges and charges, the official said.
