"Chidambaram will file his nomination form at Vidhan Bhawan here tomorrow," state Congress spokesperson Sachin Sawant said.
Congress and NCP candidates for the state Legislative Council elections too will file papers tomorrow, Sawant said.
Seventy-year-old Chidambaram did not contest the 2014 Lok Sabha elections while his son Karti unsuccessfully fought from his native Sivaganga constituency in Tamil Nadu.
Former Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde and former MP Bhalchandra Mungekar were among a large number of Congress leaders lobbying for the party nomination for the upper house of Parliament from Maharashtra.
