Chief Minister calls upon media to work fearlessly

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today called upon media professionals to work fearlessly and play the watchdog of the society.
At the Samman Samaroh-2017 at a degree college here, where he felicitated 35 persons from the state for their contribution in social and literary fields, Singh said media should work independently, impartially and fearlessly for the cause of the society.
The Chief Minister called upon the media to work on the ideals set by great journalists like Mahatma Gandhi and Bal Gangadhar Tilak.
He said the state government is committed to welfare of journalists and uplift of small newspapers and magazines.
He honoured 10 persons for donating blood more than 100 times and 25 persons for their contribution in the literary and the social fields.
On this occasion, he released a book by Navin Haldoonavi 'Mahaul Bigadi Ta', a quarterly magazine 'Srijan Sarita, 'Career Directory' by Firoz Kumar Rose, 'Shail Sutra' by Aasha Shaili, 'Ghazal Collection' by Sushil Hasrat Neralvi and also launched the website of Focus Himachal.

He also inaugurated the newly composed poetry collection of Vinod Bhavuk 'Meria Gallan Gajalbel'.
The Chief Minister also honoured the renowned folk singer Pratap Sharma.
Local MLA and Urban Development Minister Sudhir Sharma also addressed the audience and expressed happiness over the expansion of media in Himachal Pradesh.
