The Lokayukta police Thursday nabbed a Chief Municipal Officer (CMO) for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 1.17 lakh for issuing an order related to developmental work, an official said.
Sudhir Mishra, CMO of the Pichhore Nagar Parishad, was caught while accepting a bribe of Rs 1.17 lakh from the complainant in a hotel, Lokayukta inspector P K Chaturvedi said.
The complainant is the son of Nagar Parishad president Sanjay Parashar.
Chaturvedi said the CMO had asked for bribe to issue order for development works to be carried out by the civic body.
The Lokayukta police, acting on a complaint, laid a trap and caught the CMO while accepting the bribe money, he said.
Mishra has been booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act and further probe in the case was underway, the inspector said.
