Chikka, Joshi & Taunk among Indian vying for Asian Tour cards

Karan Taunk, who qualified for the Asian Tour Qualifying School Final stage through the first stage last month, will lead a bunch of 13 young Indian faces hoping to make a mark on the region's premier golf tour beginning tomorrow.
Taunk, an amateur, who is turning professional this year, will be joined by 12 other Indians, who have been exempted straight into the Final stage.
Leading Indians fighting for the Asian Tour card and playing rights are the likes of S Chikkarangappa and Khalin Joshi, who are considered among the most promising youngsters on the horizon.
Also, players like Abhijit Singh Chadha, Abhinav Lohan, Ajeetesh Sandhu, Angad Cheema, Shankar Das, Vikrant Chopra and Sujjan Singh have already played Asian Tour events. In fact, Sujjan has even won an event on Asian Development Tour in 2011.
Other Indians are Honey Baisoya, Kapil Kumar and Shubhankar Sharma besides amateur Taunk.
The field also includes 35 Australians, 28 from Japan, 26 from Korea, 25 from Thailand, 15 from US and 13 players from Scotland.
The first two rounds will see the field being divided to play at Imperial Lakeview Golf Club and Springfield Royal Country Club. The last two rounds will be played at Springfield Royal Country Club. The event is being presented by Sports Authority of Thailand.
