Child abuse prevention safety kits, digital tools launched

SafetyClub, a non profit organisation focused on empowering children with safety skills, has rolled out a combination of Teacher Training Kit and Safety Tools for Teachers as well as Children to teach, learn about safe versus unsafe touch for kids between the ages of 2-7 in a fun and interactive way.
These new tools also test children's understanding of safety around them in a simpler manner, it said in a statement.
The teacher training kit is available in English & Telugu and comprises a printed book plus digital information that are freely downloadable from Safety Club.Org website, it said.
Safety Club also announced the release of free to download iOS App and a short animation video to raise awareness about safe versus unsafe touch targeted at parents and children.
The short animated video and IOS App was formally launched by Shilpa Reddy, the Brand Ambassador for Safety Club, amidst a gathering of students, parents and teachers. The user friendly iOS app is developed by Paradigm IT and Bulbulapps, Annapurna Studios helped Safety Club create the short animation video, the statement said.
Thousands of teachers, their children in schools and beyond schools will be able to leverage the well researched simplified information presented in the teacher training kit. In addition, to these materials created by Safety Club, the founders and their team of teachers continue to conduct workshops in various underprivileged and government schools on how to protect ones children from potential abuse or victims of abuse, the organisation said.
Unveiling the details Sumana Rao, Co-founder said, our 'Safety Club teacher training and digital tools for children will provide thousands of children, parents and care givers interactive advice on how to recognise the difference between a safe versus unsafe touch and how to seek help in case of an unsafe touch in a simplified way."
According to a study by the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development, 53 percent of children (1 in 2 children) in India get abused while growing up .The survey proved that boys were as vulnerable to abuse as girls. And once a child is subjected to the trauma it leaves scars on the children that are very hard to heal from - that range from depression and anxiety to suicidal tendencies that prevent the child from leading a happy and successful life, the statement added.
