A division bench comprising justices A Selvam and T Mathivanan said the court had already granted a long time and it was the responsibility of the police to trace the child and produce it in the court.
The bench gave the direction after CB-CID police, investigating the case on the orders of the court, submitted the DNA test on the child recovered from a couple in Tirupur, who bought him from a trafficking network, proved it was born to some other parent.
On June 15, 2013, the day-old infant of Meenakshi and Thinakaran, who hail from Bommapatti village near here, was stolen from Government Rajaji Hospital.
As the city police could not crack the case, Meenakshi had approached the high court, which transferred the case to the CB-CID in October last.
During the hearing, the court had pulled up the government and sought detailed reports on measures taken to enhance security in government hospitals and to trace stolen children.
