The matter came to light yesterday when Uttar Pradesh State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (UPSCPCR) was tipped off about shifting of three girls, claiming one of them to be pregnant.
When the Commission's officials visited the shelter home, they found the information was correct and the girl was found to be two month pregnant. She was shifted from a child protection home in Bareilly a year ago.
The place, where the girl was living, is a government shelter home for orphan girls between 12 and 18 years. They can, however, stay longer till the time they get a job or are married.
The inquiry will be conducted by by Principal Secretary, Women Welfare, she said.
The government has asked the officials to shift two other girls who are said to be above 18 years.
