Children of Kashmiri Pandits on maiden trip to their homeland

The students, during the trip organised by the Relief Commissioner's office at Jammu, visited various places of interest including the Hazratbal Shrine, Kheerbhawani, Baba Reshi, Shankarachariya temple in Baramulla and Gulmarg.

"We have heard from our ancestors that if there is heaven on earth that is Kashmir but we have seen it with our open eyes. Kashmir is our mother land and we want to visit here again and again," said Priya and Vikas Kaul.

The students also praised the hospitality and scenic beauty of Kashmir.

The students, who are presently putting up at satellite towns of Jagti, Muthi, Roopnagar and Nagrota in Jammu Division, also called on Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Raman Bhalla at his residence here today.

Interacting with the students, Bhalla stressed for efforts to uphold values of communal harmony and conserve rich cultural heritage of the state.

The minister inspiring them to achieving excellence through hard work, and advised to make optimum use of the expanded education opportunities in the state.

Highlighting state's rich tradition of amity and brotherhood, Bhalla said co-existence of different faiths and cultures in the region symbolises high values of humanism.

Later, Bhalla flagged-off the group to Mattan, Pahalgam and other tourist destinations in south Kashmir.
