Chilli, jeera decline on low demand

Red chilli and jeera prices fell by Rs 100 per quintal in the national capital today owing to reduced demand from retailers and stockists amid adequate stocks positions.
Weakening trend in futures market also put pressure on the select spice prices.
Red chilli prices fell by Rs 100 to Rs 7,300-12,500 per quintal.
Jeera common and best quality fell by Rs 100 each to Rs 13,800-14,300 and Rs 17,000-17,500 per quintal.
Marketmen said reduced demand from retailers and stockists amid adequate stock positions mainly pulled down chilli and jeera prices at the wholesale kirana market here.
Following are today's quotations:
Ajwain (per kg) 175-220, black pepper (per kg) 750-950, betel-nut (kg) 280-330, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 1,725-1,745 and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 1,825-1,925.
Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 820-890, cardamom (colour robin) 760-800, cardamom bold 790-850, cardamom extra (bold) 1,000-1,030 and cloves 800-910.
