Chilli, jeera up as demand picks up

Red chilli and jeera prices rose Rs 100 per quintal in the national capital today largely on the back of a pickup in demand from local parties and overseas enquiries.
Chilli prices went up by Rs 100 to settle at Rs 7,800-15,500 per quintal.
Jeera common and jeera best quality also rose by Rs 100 each to conclude at Rs 17,000-17,600 and Rs 21,000-21,500 per quintal.
Traders said buying support from retailers and stockists amid rising export demand, mainly pushed up chilli and jeera prices at the wholesale kirana market here.
Following are today's quotations (in Rs):
Ajwain (per kg) 155-190, black pepper (per kg) 600-780, betel-nut (kg) 300-350, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 1,730-1,760 and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 1,950-2,060.
Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 800-860, cardamom (colour robin) 800-820, cardamom bold 810-830, cardamom extra (bold) 940-990 and cloves 730-850.
