Chilli, turmeric down on subdued demand

Red chilli and turmeric prices drifted by Rs 100 per quintal in the national capital today largely due to easing demand from retailers and stockists amid adequate stocks.
Pick up in arrivals from growing regions and weakening trend in futures market also put pressure on the chilli and coriander prices.
Red chilli and turmeric prices drifted by Rs 100 each to conclude at Rs 7,700-15,400 and Rs 8,400-12,900 per quintal, respectively.
Marketmen said subdued demand from retailers and stockists against adequate stocks, mainly pulled down chilli and turmeric prices.
Following are today's quotations (in Rs):
Ajwain (per kg) 155-190, black pepper (per kg) 600-780, betel-nut (kg) 300-350, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 1,730-1,760 and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 1,950-2,060.
Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 800-860, cardamom (colour robin) 800-820, cardamom bold 810-830, cardamom extra (bold) 940-990 and cloves 730-850.
