Chilli, turmeric falls on subdued demand

Red chilli and turmeric prices drifted by Rs 100 per quintal in the national capital today largely due to easing demand from retailers and stockists amid adequate stocks.
Pick up in arrivals from growing regions also put pressure on the chilli and turmeric prices.
Red chilli and turmeric prices drifted by Rs 100 each to conclude at Rs 8,900-16,400 and Rs 9,800-14,300 per quintal, respectively.
Marketmen said subdued demand from retailers and stockists against adequate stocks, mainly pulled down chilli and turmeric prices.
Following are today's quotations (in Rs):
Ajwain (per kg) 150-190, black pepper (per kg) 670-870, betel-nut (kg) 300-350, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 1,420-1,430 and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 1,480-1,850.
