Chilly Christmas day in Delhi

It was a bright but chilly Christmas for Delhiites, with occasional gusts of wind even as dense fog delayed as many as 90 north-bound trains and eight flights in the morning.
The minimum temperature settled two notches below normal at 6 degree Celsius with the maximum being recorded at 16 degree Celsius, six notches below normal, at the Safdarjung observatory whose reading is considered to be the official temperature for the city.
Visibility, which was recorded at 300 metres at 8.30 AM, increased to 1000 metres at 5.30 PM, a MeT official said predicting mainly clear skies tomorrow with moderate to dense fog during the morning hours.
As the fog gave away to bright sunshine during the day, a large number of Christmas revellers thronged various public places in the city, including shopping malls, making the most of the pleasant weather.
Earlier as many as 90 trains were delayed including Rajdhani, coming from Ranchi, Kolkata, Bhubaneswar and Guwahati.
Northern Railways also rescheduled departure of 13 trains and cancelled five trains due to adverse weather conditions, a Railways official said.
