Amritsar was the coldest place with a low of 3.9 degrees Celsius which was three degrees below normal.
Chandigarh recorded a minimum of 7.5 degrees Celsius which was two degrees below normal, the MeT office said.
The night temperatures in most cities were below normal and settled between one degrees Celsius and three degrees Celsius.
Despite a bright sunshine, chilly winds swept most parts of the two states and Chandigarh.
The MeT office has forecast dry weather with possibility of rise in temperature in the region during the next 24 hours.
