China evacuates foreign nationals from Yemen

China has rescued 225 people from 10 countries, including India, from Yemen in its first ever attempt to evacuate large number of foreigners from the strife-torn country.
About 176 of the evacuated nationals by a Chinese frigate from Aden in Yemen to Djibouti are Pakistan while the rest are from, Ethiopia, Singapore, Italy, Germany, Poland, Ireland, Britain, Canada and Yemen, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson, Hua Chunying told media briefing here today.
Chinese government also helped eight citizens from Romania, India, Egypt and some other countries, she said.
Earlier China has evacuated about 500 of its citizens from Yemen.
They foreign nationals were taken from conflict-ridden Yemen to Djibouti onboard a Chinese frigate yesterday.
The evacuation is humanitarian action taken by China at the request of relevant countries, she said.
This is the first time for China to take special action to help with evacuation of foreign citizens from danger zone, she said adding that "it fully demonstrates the spirit of internationalism and humanitarianism of China".
