The portable TV sets, dubbed "horseback TVs," are specially designed to satisfy the demands of nomadic herders who always need to move their homes.
Each set weighs almost 30 kg and consists of a digital satellite TV set, a solar-powered battery and a satellite antenna receiver, state-run news agency Xinhua reported.
Officials said that even if herders are living in plateau grasslands with an altitude above 3,500 metres or experience rainy days, they can still watch TV programmes broadcast on more than 50 channels.
