The Chinese shuttlers defeated their Singapore counterparts in two singles matches and a doubles match to clinch the contest 3-2. Singapore won a doubles and a singles match in the tie.
Each tie comprises three singles and two doubles.
China's Houwei Tian, ranked world number eight in singles, posted an easy 21-11 21-12 victory over his Singapore rival Zi Liang Derek Wong, ranked 49 before China's Bin Qiao, ranked 56 in BWF world rankings, defeated a lower-ranked Zin Rei Ryan NG in another singles match.

In women's section, Thailand's Busanan Ongbumrungphan, ranked 19, got the better of 187-ranked Lekha Shehani from the island nation in the first singles match.
Porntip Buranaprasertsuk, who is ranked 22 in BWF world rankings, also registered an easy 21-5 21-7 victory against Sri Lanka's Thilini Pramodika Hendahewa.
In all 14 men's teams and 12 women's team are competing in the tournament. The participating teams will play in two stages. Top two teams from each Group qualify for the final.
