Yu Zhengsheng, the Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) today met Pakistan's Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Zubair Mahmood Hayat here and appreciated Islamabad's support to Beijing in combating terrorism.
Hailing the all-weather friendship between China and Pakistan, Yu, said, "We appreciate the Pakistan government and military's firm support to China in fighting terrorism."
His comments came as the two countries are grappling with the killing of two Chinese nationals by Islamic State millitants.
Pakistan Interior Ministry said the two Chinese nationals were involved in "preaching" in the country along with a Korean group.

China has offered to cooperate in investigating their alleged illegal preaching activities in the Muslim nation.
Yu in his meeting with Zubair called for implementation of the consensus reached by the leaders of both countries to promote the construction of the USD 50 billion China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and forge a community of shared future, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
Zubair yesterday attended 12th China-Pakistan Defence and Security Consultation in Beijing. General Fang Fenghui, member of China's Central Military Commission (CMC) and chief of the Joint Staff Department conducted the dialogue on behalf of China.
The two held in depth exchange of views on international and regional security situations and bilateral military relations, a defence ministry statement said.
The consultation achieved positive results, it said.
Fang said the bilateral military relations between the two Chinese military will promote the development of the Quadrilateral Cooperation and Coordination Mechanism in Counter-terrorism by Afghanistan-China-Pakistan-Tajikistan Armed Forces (Four-nation Counter-terror Mechanism), elevate the level of cooperation between the two militaries and jointly maintain the security and stable development of the region, Fang added.
