China's ex resource group head pleads guilty for graft

A former chairman of state-owned China Resources Group today pleaded guilty for charges of embezzlement and bribery.
Song Lin was charged with embezzling over USD 1.42 million.
The trial was handled by Guangzhou Municipal Intermediate People's Court.
The procuratorate accused Song of embezzling over 9.74 million yuan from 2013 to 2014, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
The accused is also alleged to have accepted 23.36 million yuan from 2005 to 2012 in return for helping other companies or individuals to secure project cooperation, promotion and other issues.
Song pleaded guilty to all charges, the report said.
Over 80 lawmakers, journalists and citizens attended the open trial, it said.
Hundreds of Chinese officials from different ranks were prosecuted and punished in the anti-corruption campaign initiated by Chinese President Xi Jinping after he took over power in 2013.
