China's former senior justice official has been charged with graft and corporate bribery to secure illegal benefits, state media reported today.
Lu Enguang was the former head of the political division of Ministry of Justice.
The indictment paper has been delivered to the Intermediate People's Court of Anyang City, Henan Province, by the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) said today.
Lu is accused of offering significant amounts of money and gifts to officials to secure illegitimate benefits for himself and the companies under his control, according to the SPP.
The prosecutors interrogated him and listened to his lawyer's opinions, the SPP said, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
Thousands of officials of the ruling Communist Party of China (CPC) have been prosecuted under the anti-graft campaign launched by Chinese President Xi Jinping since 2013.
