Security agencies have reported two "air space violations" in the recent past by suspected Chinese helicopters in the border areas of Uttarakhand.
The reported incidents took place on June 13 and April 30 in the adjoining areas of Barahoti, forward area of Chamoli district in the state, when a light helicopter was seen flying in the Indian area for sometime.
The border guarding Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) has a post in this area at a location called Rim Khim.
Sources said the information about these reported "air violations" have been communicated to the Home Ministry and state government with details that the chopper was seen for few minutes before it made its way back into the Chinese territory.
The area, sources said, where the reported "violations" took place has no habitation and are arduous to reach.
The security forces have been witnessing such helicopter sorties in the past and whenever they are found violating the Indian airspace, the matter is reported to higher authorities, the sources said.
The Chumar area in north east of Leh in Jammu and Kashmir has seen a number of incursion incidents in the past including an incident in June last year where Chinese troops took away an Army surveillance camera meant for keeping an eye on the PLA troops patrolling there.
