Three Chinese warships dropped anchor in Poland today, marking the first-ever such visit to the NATO and EU member, public broadcaster TVP reported.
A Jinan destroyer and two other naval vessels docked in the Baltic sea port of Gdynia where they will be open to the public for the next five days.
Meanwhile, some of the 800 Chinese sailors aboard will visit local tourist attractions and play friendly football matches with their Polish counterparts.
The visit marks the 66th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Poland.
Earlier, the three vessels were part of international anti-pirate patrols in the Gulf of Aden along the Somali coast.
