A court court here today allowed CBI to take Artha Tatwa (AT) Group chief Pradip Sethi and the company's accountant Srikrushna Padhi on remand for 10 days.
CBI had pleaded for the 14-day remand for Sethi but Special Chief Judicial Magistrate Padmalochan Satpathy allowed the agency only 10 days.
CBI had also pleaded with the court to club eight cases against Sethi together.
Sethi's lawyer, however, opposed the plea and pointed out that his client had already been taken on remand eight times by the police.
Sethi and Padhi were arrested by Odisha Police last year.
CBI had earlier arrested one AT director Sambit Khuntia and one of the founding directors Joytiprakash Joyprakash in connection with their alleged involvement in the multi-crore rupee chit fund scam, better known as Saradha scam.
CBI has registered 44 FIRs in Odisha against as many chit fund companies. The Supreme Court had handed over the Saradha scam to CBI and asked the state governments to provide all logistical help to the agency's team probing the matter.
