Goa Congress president Girish Chodankar and former chief minister Francis Sardinha will be the party's candidates from North Goa and South Goa constituencies, respectively.

With the announcement, the battle-lines have now been drawn formally between the BJP and the Congress in both the constituencies.

Chodankar will be pitted against sitting BJP MP and Union AYUSH Minister Shripad Naik and Aam Aadmi Party's Pradeep Padgaonkar in North Goa.

In South Goa, Sardinha faces sitting BJP MP Narendra Sawaikar and AAP's Elvis Gomes.

The BJP has renominated both the MPs for the April 23 elections.

Names of Chodankar and Sardinha were announced by the All India Congress Committee in a release Monday.

The women wing president of the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) Pratima Coutinho was also an aspirant from South Goa.
