A helicopter ferrying Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh to the state capital from Sukma district experienced a sudden jolt mid-air and a loss of height due to technical snag this afternoon but none of those on board was hurt.
"The incident took place at around 4 pm when the chopper was flying approximately 4,000 feet above the ground over the jungles of Kanker," pilot of the helicopter Gopal Krishna Panda told PTI.
Kanker is located around 125 kms away from Raipur.
The Chief Minister had gone to Naxal-hit Sukma district to take part in a series of programmes. After attending the events, Singh and School Education Minister Kedar Kashyap left Sukma for the state capital in the chopper at around 3.15 pm.
"When the helicopter was flying above the forest area of Kanker, it experienced a technical snag in the auto-pilot system, which led to a sudden jolt. It caused the copter to plunge about 100 feet but we managed to control the situation," Panda added.
The helicopter landed at Raipur at around 4.15 pm.
"An investigation has been initiated to ascertain the cause behind the snag," he said.
