"Sangma had a very sound knowledge of parliamentary issues. He was an important and sensitive public representative of the North East," Chouhan said.
Paying rich tributes to Sangma, he described him as a multi-faceted personality, an able administrator and the one who devoted himself for the welfare of the poor.
The void created by Sangma's death will not be fulfilled, he added.
Sangma, 68, died in New Delhi today following a massive heart attack.
