Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister and BJP leader Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Thursday slammed the Congress government over filing of a case against a party MLA agitating alongside farmers and said he will court arrest on Friday in Sagar district as a mark of protest.

On Tuesday, police had booked Pradip Lariya, the BJP MLA from Naryaoli in Sagar district, for staging a road blockade along with farmers to protest against shortage of urea in the state.

Chouhan, who is the BJP's national vice-president, alleged the Congress government's act of filing a case against the MLA shows it was trying to muzzle people's voice.

I will go to Sagar on Friday to court arrest along with Lariya. The Congress had earlier made false promises to farmers and now they are being made to wait inordinately for urea, Chouhan told reporters here.

Reacting to Chouhans statement, the ruling Congress advised him and other BJP leaders to stage protest against the NDA government at the Centre for its "stepmotherly" attitude towards Madhya Pradesh in allocation of funds.

Chouhan and BJP MPs should protest against the Centre, which has adopted stepmotherly attitude towards Madhya Pradesh.

"The Centre has not yet released Rs 1,500 crore as GST compensation for August-September to Madhya Pradesh, said Narendra Saluja, coordinator of the state Congress Media Cell.

The Congress leader claimed the Centre has reduced urea allocation to the state by 2.60 metric tonnes this year.

The previous BJP government led by Chouhan did not pay premium of Rs 2,300 crore towards crop insurance scheme for three years so the Centre stopped its benefits to Madhya Pradesh's farmers despite the state paying its share of Rs 505 crore for the current year, Saluja said.
