Chouhan left his official residence at around 9.45 PM and visited night shelters situated in Jehangirabad and New Market areas and at Nadira bus stand last night, sources said today.
Accompanied by Bhopal Collector Nishant Warvade and Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials, Chouhan also enjoyed a cup of tea at a kiosk in New Market area.
Addressing reporters later, Chouhan expressed his satisfaction with the arrangements in place at these places meant for labourers and destitute elderly persons.
The sources said Chouhan requested the people spending nights in open on pavements to go to night shelters but they refused saying they are happy outside.
According to sources, an adequate number of bonfires were set up at various places for providing relief to people from the chilling cold.
Chouhan also interacted with people during his visit.
