Christian Bale, who played Batman in Christopher Nolan's famous trilogy, has revealed that he was "jealous" when Ben Affleck was cast as the Caped Crusader in upcoming film 'Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice'.
Bale ended his reign as Batman after 2012 movie 'The Dark Knight Rises' but the actor says it came as a surprise when Affleck's name was announced for the Zack Snyder's film, reported Empire magazine.
"I've got to admit initially, even though I felt that it was the right time to stop, there was always a bit of me going, 'Oh go on... Let's do another,'" Bale, 40, said.
"So when I heard there was someone else doing it, there was a moment where I just stopped and stared into nothing for half an hour."
Bale first played Bruce Wayne/Batman in 2005 movie 'Batman Begins' and reprised it in 'The Dark Knight' and 'The Dark Knight Rises' subsequently. Bale is finally at peace with other actors taking the Batman legacy forward.
"But I'm 40. The fact that I'm jealous of someone else playing Batman... I think I should have gotten over it by now."
The actor has not spoken to Affleck about the character yet but he did write a mail to 'Argo' director offering advice.
"I haven't spoken with Ben, but I emailed him offering bits of advice that I learned the hard way. I would imagine he is doing everything he can to avoid anything that I did.
