Bale ended his reign as Batman after 2012 movie 'The Dark Knight Rises' but the actor says it came as a surprise when Affleck's name was announced for the Zack Snyder's film, reported Empire magazine.
"I've got to admit initially, even though I felt that it was the right time to stop, there was always a bit of me going, 'Oh go on... Let's do another,'" Bale, 40, said.
Bale first played Bruce Wayne/Batman in 2005 movie 'Batman Begins' and reprised it in 'The Dark Knight' and 'The Dark Knight Rises' subsequently. Bale is finally at peace with other actors taking the Batman legacy forward.
"But I'm 40. The fact that I'm jealous of someone else playing Batman... I think I should have gotten over it by now."
The actor has not spoken to Affleck about the character yet but he did write a mail to 'Argo' director offering advice.
