Churchill Brothers, struggling to avoid relegation, will be desperately looking for a victory when they take on title contenders East Bengal in a crucial encounter in the 24th round of the I-League at Nehru Stadium here tomorrow.
Tomorrow's match is vital for both the teams, as Churchill Brothers are fighting to avoid relegation.
Churchill Brothers' draw against Sporting Clube de Goa and loss against Mumbai FC have placed them at the bottom of the table with 19 points from 21 matches. They now need to win all their three remaining games in order to avoid relegation.
On the other hand, the Kolkata outfit -- East Bengal -- who have won their last four matches, have kept their hopes alive for the title race as they are placed third with 37 points. East Bengal now have a match in hand against table topper Bengaluru, who are leading the table with 41 points from 22 matches and are favourite to win the title.
Churchill Brothers coach Mariano Dias said, "We have to forget the loss against Mumbai FC and now concentrate on trying to get all three points against a good East Bengal side. I believe the boys are capable of putting up a good show and getting all three points in a very important match."
East Bengal's coach Armando Colaco is happy the way his team is performing, especially in the last match against Pune FC that they won 3-1. That win has helped East Bengal in the hunt for the I-League title.
"There is no pressure. I have asked them to just go out and enjoy. I'm happy and proud of the boys as they have come up from the seventh position. With confidence high, we have a realistic chance of winning the I-League title," said Colaco.
"Now that we are in a position from where we can strive to win the title with goals coming from Chidi, Sueoka, and Cavin Lobo is also playing well. We will do everything to win tomorrow to stay in the race for the title. There is a great spirit within the ranks as we head into the final three matches of the season," concluded Colaco.
