During the four years period till February end 2014, 2,84,592 fresh cases of passport and 20,742 backlog cases were cleared by the CID, they said.

The passport clearance to the relatives of militants is given once the field verification and examination of the case suggests that the application does not have any close association with his militant (relative) and the passport so required is purely for personal purpose like family visits, education, sports, Hajj, Umrah, job, trainings and not for any activity which is against the interest of the state, they said.
