Eight months after three members of a Dalit community were killed in Thangadh during the Surendranagar district police firing after clashes, CID (Crime), probing the incident, submitted its inquiry report to the Gujarat government.
"The inquiry report is with the Gujarat government and we will undertake its thorough study," a Gujarat state home department official said today.
One person belonging to the Dalit community was killed in clashes between members of Dalit and Bharwad (shepherd) community on September 23, 2012 while two other community members protesting alleged inaction by cops, died in a subsequent police firing.
In November 2012, the police had filed an affidavit in a local court in Surendranagar district stating that a police team used AK-47 assault rifles, among other weapons, to fire at Dalits protesting police inaction.
The affidavit also stated that the accused policemen were motivated by "hatred" and "prejudice".
