Issues like 'No-Detention Policy', holding class XII exams in line with CBSE figured prominently during the 108th General Body meeting of the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations meeting, where representatives of HRD ministry and CBSE were also present.
A statement released here said that at the meeting on Monday ICSE Chief Executive and Secretary Gerry Arathoon highlighted achievements including use of LICR technology to ensure quicker and error-free results.
It was also mentioned that division of marks in Practical and Theory papers has been altered to 70:30 ratio from the earlier 50:50 ratio. It was also mentioned that standard XII exam from the year 2018 will be held in line with the CBSE.
The contentious issue of 'No detention policy' up to class VIII introduced by Right to Education Act, 2009, was also discussed, the statement said.
It added that a Deputy Director of Education of Delhi Government expressed concern that due to the "No detention policy" the results of the students have shown a continuous decline in the past 4-5 years and the students are failing in Classes IX and XI.
