Networking giant Cisco today unveiled three products, which have been conceptualised, architected and designed at its India engineering centre, for sectors like telecom, banking, retail and data centres.
"Innovation is a core part of the Cisco culture, and annually USD 5.9 billion is invested in R&D worldwide. For Cisco, 830 patents have been filed from India and 500 patents issued for innovations across all technologies," Cisco President Engineering and India Site Leader Amit Phadnis said.
These products continue 'reverse innovation' at Cisco, where engineers in India design products to address the requirements of emerging countries like India but end up developing products that are globally attractive and competitive, he added.
"In India, with a rapidly increasing number of people, devices, machines and sensors coming online across the Internet of Everything, companies require new capabilities to succeed," Phadnis said.
As India digitises, the way applications are designed and delivered is being shaped by trends like Big Data, Internet of Everything (IoE), mobility, video and cloud, he added.
"These three products, from the Cisco India Development Centre, are designed to power the vision of a digitised India," he said.
