The decision was taken after a high-level review of the security paraphernalia of Delhi Metro by senior Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) officials here.
Officials said in order to further strengthen security of the over 150 stations in the national capital region, the CISF will enhance the presence of its commando teams, bomb detection and disposal squads and canine sniffer teams at sensitive stations which will be based on threat perception.
They said the CISF has also discussed the update of security measures with other stakeholders like Delhi Police and Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).
The random profiling of commuters will also be enhanced from this week. Armed patrols by both armed units and plainclothes CISF personnel will be upped, they said.
"The dynamic deployment of armed component at important and sensitive metro stations is another initiative which will be introduced at Delhi metro stations this week," the officials said.
