CISF cover for subordinate courts in HC campuses not priority:

The Tamil Nadu government today informed the Madras High Court that extending the same pattern of security for other subordinate courts in high court campuses as given by CISF here would be considered later as it was not in the priority list of 65 proposals given by the high court.
The government made this submission when a suo motu PIL on providing CISF cover to subordinate courts in campuses at the principle seat at Madras and its Madurai Bench came up before the first bench comprising Chief Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice R Mahadevan
The bench said, "This arises out of recommendation of the security committee for following the same pattern as provided by CISF for the remaining high court campus."
Reacting to the submission made by the government pleader that it was not in the priority list of 65 proposals given by the HC and this is to be considered later, the bench pointed out that there are now 176 proposals pending with the government.
"This is also a proposal pending with the state government. It is now the right time, the other aspects having been implemented, to see to the implementation also of this, for which financial sanctions would have to be granted."
When the matter came up, Government Pleader S T S Murthy submitted that the balance work at Madurai Bench is to be completed on or before September 15.
With regard to residential quarters for CISF cadres, Assistant Solicitor General Su. Sreenivasan said the Chennai Port Trust is constructing the same and enough funding was being given by the state Public Works Department.

Construction of these residential quarters would be over at least by August 31, he said.
On procuring security gadgets, the ASG submitted that the process of tendering was on and it would be completed and the equipment procured within two months.
The bench recorded it and said the matter should be expedited.
It then posted the matter for further hearing to August 23.
Security of the Madras High Court complex was taken over by CISF personnel from the state police on November 16, 2015 after lawyers created a ruckus while agitating for declaration of Tamil as official language of the court and over contempt of court proceedings against two Madurai-based Bar Association leaders.
The high court wanted CISF cover in its Madurai Bench also.
