Officials said the incident occurred at about 1:00 PM when CISF constable Shinil deployed at the x-ray baggage security check at the terminal-III of the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) saw an unattended bag.
He checked the bag and called his seniors after which it was found that the bag had foreign currency worth about Rs 2.5 lakh, two wrist watches, a debit card and some documents.
They said the airline staff was immediately contacted and told that the flier has forgotten the bag in the security check area but they said the passenger had already boarded the flight.
However, quick arrangements were made to check the bonafides and hand over the bag and its belongings to its owner just before the flight took off, he said.
The flier profusely thanked the CISF staff that met him inside the aircraft and the jawan who spotted it, he added.
