CITI to conduct study on status of textile industry
Press Trust of India Coimbatore The Confederation of Indian Textile Industry (CITI) is exploring to conduct a detailed study on the status of textile industry and is in the process of identifying a competent agency for it.
Once the agency is identified, it will go into the details, like why despite high potential for growth, the industry was suffering and the internal and external factors for the crisis in the last few years.
It would cover in detail the issues concerning both domestic and export markets.
CITI wanted to complete the study within three months and the report would be presented to the Prime Minister's Office, with the support of ministers of Finance, Commerce and Textiles, the sources said.
To focus on the crisis being faced by the textile industry, the spinning mills across the country had proposed to stop a day's production at national level in Southern India Mills' Association (SIMA) here, said one of the CITI members.
