A 40-day citizen photojournalism campaign aimed at pictorially highlighting the barriers to education faced by children in India concluded here today with a photo exhibition.

Child Rights and You (CRY) had launched the campaign titled 'Click Rights-Focus on the Child' on July 15.

"The evidence, in the form of photographs, that people have shared, as part of the campaign clearly indicates the reasons why children are out of school. Some major reasons as being shown includes dilapidated school buildings, unsafe environment and missing playgrounds," Volunteer Action (North) senior manager Leena Prasad said.

The exhibition also showcased photographs by eminent photographers like Raghu Rai, Neeraj Priyadarshi, Sudharak Olwe, Amit Pasricha, Dinesh Khanna, Fawzan Hussain, Prashant Panjiar, Vicky Roy, Altaf Quadri, Kaushal Parekh, Mexy Xavier, Ram Rehman and Himanshu Panchal.

CRY regional director (North) Soha Moitra said, "Our aim was to raise public awareness about critical issues confronting children in India today by using photography as a medium. We were completely overwhelmed by the response received. We reached over 4,80,000 people through social media and had direct engagement on the campaign from over 35,000 people online."

CRY will share the photographs collected as evidence with local and national government bodies to demand every child's right to education. The 'Click Rights' dossier will be shared with the HRD ministry in the month of October.
