city cancer institute launches website on cancer

: A website to create awareness among people about cancer and and educate them about the disease was launched here today by city based Sri Ramakrishna Institute of Oncology.
"By accessing cancerawarenesssrior.Com, anyone can read what they want to know on cancer. The website teaches the public in simple, but elaborate details about what cancer is and its treatment," Dr P Guhan, Director of the Institute said at the launch.
It talks about all types of cancers from head to foot, importance of cancer screening for all, low/high risk individuals, methods of screening for early detection, the modalities, outcome and importance of treatment, preventive methods, dos and don'ts in every day life of common man to prevent cancer, Guhan said.
The institute also released an E-book to 'match and catch' E-world citizens attention towards cancer awareness and education, as part of World Cancer day, being observed today.
Dr K Vijayakarthikeyan, Commissioner of Coimbatore Corporation, who inaugurated the website and E-Book, asked the institute management to reach out to a wider section of people through the website, so that they are aware of the causes and reasons of the disease.
He also said people should change their mindset and develop anticipatory tendency, so that by attending screening camps and tests should know problems they had to face in future.
