District Collector Archana Patnaik and Mayor P Rajkumar flagged off the run, organised by the administration, to commermorate the accordance of status of District Headquarters to Coimbatore by the British on this day in 1804.
Students from Tamil Nadu Sport Development Authority, Karate Association, Taekwondo Association, Sree Narayanaguru College, District Sports body officials and athletes, took part in the run, which started from the District Collectorate and reached Nehru stadium, after covering Race Course Road and Avanashi Road.
