Civic bodies' leaders say Delhi govt misleading people

The leaders of BJP-ruled municipal corporations today slammed Delhi government for misleading people by giving "untrue" figures of funds provided to them and for indulging in politics ahead of elections of the civic bodies later this year.
The leaders of the three municipal corporations - North, South and East - at a joint press conference claimed Delhi government owes them Rs 2,380 crore as dues of the Third Delhi Finance Commission recommendations besides implementing fourth DFC report.
Expresses their anguish over the "misleading" claim of releasing more funds by the government, the leaders said "the claim is totally false and untrue."

Besides the mayors of the three municipal corporations, standing committee chairmen and leaders of the House of three civic bodies presented the details of the funds provided to them by the Delhi government.
"The city government has yet to release Rs 2,380 crore to the municipal corporations as per the recommendations of the third Finance Commission," said the leader of the SDMC House.
As per the recommendations of the Fourth DFC - yet to be implemented by the Delhi government - the corporations will be getting 12.50 per cent out of the "global share" (tax collection) and 100 per cent amount on the heads of education and entertainment tax from the government, he said.
