Yogender Chandolia, Chairman of the Standing Committee, North Delhi Municipal Corporation, has requested Lt Governor Tejinder Khanna to order the state government to immediately release Rs. 36,13,37,546 for the period 2006-07 to 2009-10 to the municipal corporations.

The Delhi Government which publicly denounced the newly formed municipal corporations as its biggest liability was itself defaulting in the payment of over 36 crore for maternity and child welfare services schemes by the MCD, claimed Chandolia.

These schemes are run by the MCD on the directions of Directorate of Family Welfare of the state with a condition that the expenditure incurred on the scheme would be reimbursed subject to submission of an audit certificate by the Local Fund Account.
