The protesters alleged that the cows were left in the forest, the terrain of which is stony and near the railway tracks causing many of those bovines being run over by trains.
Purported photographs of killed and injured cows were sent to the municipal council and the district collector, they said.

The municipal council officials wasted money in transporting the stray cows. In a very inhuman way, they did not take note of safety measures for the animals, state Youth Congress general secretary Charmesh Sharma alleged demanding an inquiry into the matter.
Sections of the society have hailed the civic body's move, saying the roads are now free from stray animals.
