"Thane will have its own branding and it will be based on rich combination of the lakes, greenery which the city has," Civic Commissioner Sanjeev Jaiswal told reporters here.
For this purpose, a competition for designing a logo has been opened for the citizens from today, he added.
The best logo, to be selected by a committee will be awarded Rs 1 lakh as prize, Jaiswal said.
"Once the logo is accepted it can be made public and can be freely used by various buildings, societies, establishments and even citizens to promote the city," Jaiswal added.
