Civic officer's car set afire in Thane; he escapes unhurt

The car of a senior civic official of the Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation was allegedly set afire today by two unidentified person here in the district, police said.
Yuvraj Badane, Deputy Municipal Commissioner was on his way in his car for some work and alighted from it to speak to local residents when the incident occurred this afternoon,Thane police PRO Gajanan Kadbule said.
Two persons wearing helmets came on motorbike and one of them, who was carrying inflammable material, sprayed it on the car and torched it, the official said.
However, he escaped unhurt the vehicle was damaged in the fire.

According to police, a case under relevant sections of IPC has been registered and efforts are on to nab the accused.
