In the state capital itself, garbage has been lying strewn and is piling up, with authorities fearing that it may pose health hazards to citizens if left unattended.
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has made alternative arrangements for lifting of garbage and sweeping of roads by pressing into service as many as 150 garbage-clearing vehicles for each ward.
However, the arrangements are seemingly falling short to tackle around 4,000 metric tonne of garbage being generated everyday in the capital itself, a civic official said.
The employees held protests in the state capital and also in cities like Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada, besides under different municipalities and municipal corporation areas across the state by organising rallies.
