Civil suit filed against Nayanthara-starrer 'Aramm'

A civil suit has been filed in the Madras High Court to restrain production firm KJR studios, director Gopin Nainar and actress Nayanthara from exhibiting Tamil film "Aramm" besides seeking Rs 2 crore compensation.
The plaintiff, Vishnu Movie Makers in Mysore, claimed that it had produced a Kannada film titled "ParIvara" in 2013 and obtained the censor certificate in December the same year. But the film could not be released due to financial problems.
The makers arranged a preview show for distributors and friends, in which Gopi Nainar also participated, it was submitted.
The plaintiff further alleged that Nainar copied the Kannada version of the film without obtaining any rights or permission.
"Aramm" features Nayanthara in the lead role as a district collector, with Ramesh and Vignesh of "Kaaka Muttai" fame in supporting roles. The film was released on November 9.
The plaintiff said the film has also been released in Karnataka, adding the present civil suit was filed to restrain the trio from exhibiting the film.
The Vishnu Movie Makers also demanded a compensation of Rs 2 crore.
