Chief Justice of India Altamas Kabir will inaugurate the Jammu and Kashmir State Judicial Academy (JKSJA) complex in Bemina area here on Sunday, officials said.
The academy, set up on the pattern of a similar academy in Bhopal, which is the largest in the country, trains newly-appointed judicial officers and also imparts reorientation courses to the existing officers to keep them abreast with the latest developments in the legal world.
Although the academy came into existence in 1973, it was formally established in 2001.
During his two-day visit, the CJI will also address the students and faculty of Law Department at Kashmir University on Monday.
This will be the first official visit of the Chief Justice of India to the state since he assumed office last year.
